FEAST wins 3 years mentoring contract at Brent.
(April 2009 to March 2011)
FEAST and its partner MDS after strong competition has won a 3 year contract  to provide key Mentoring services for the ‘Disadvantaged and Disaffected Pupils’ in the Borough to the ‘Talented and Gifted’.
FEAST is already a well established Voluntary organisation that has served the Borough for well over 8 continuous years.
On Track: Early intervention pilot:
FEAST was the organisation that won the contract to pilot Central Government’s first early intervention scheme named On – Track.
The organisation also played the key role in the rolling out and evaluation. The Home Office; the contractor on behalf of Central Government rates FEAST as “one of the most effective interventions in the country”

Current Services to Brent:
FEAST is one of the main preferred suppliers of services to the Borough and its schools that enable the meeting of Central and Borough aims regarding the meeting the aims of “Every child matters”.

The Borough regularly contracts FEAST to provide out of term activities to vulnerable young persons during the Easter and Summer holidays. This is a popular project which provides creative recreational activities for theses young persons without which they might most probably be exposed to the exploitation of criminal elements with serious consequences to themselves and their communities. They are kept safe, made creative and made to cultivate positive interpersonal skills.

Common Assessment Framework: CAF
The organisation is a preferred provider to this important service area to the Borough. The organisation provides mentoring to the young persons enabling them to enhance their self esteem and cultivate positive aspirations.
Parents and Carers are supported to understand the British Education system, improve their own Numeracy and Literacy so as to be more effective in supporting their children’s education.

Direct Support for Schools;

FEAST do regularly supply Teaching assistants, Class room assistants, Learning Mentors, Behaviour support Mentors, Somali liaison  staff, Interpreters  in  languages such as Somali, Polish and Urdu.
This gives each school the flexibility to buy in the service it requires only when it requires it.
It is highly rated by the schools.
FEAST considers itself as part of each school it provides services to hence its participation in these schools activities.

L B Hackney

Hackney; the Learning Borough contracts FEAST’s Educational input.

FEAST in partnership with Hackney Libraries has worn its second year contract to provide Supplementary school facilities to young persons in the Borough.

 

Services:

The subjects supported are Maths, English, Science and IT as well as a Home Work club based at the Stanford Hill Library.

 

Adult Education:

Currently the organisation is running a Family Learning Program in Numeracy for a class of 10 parents at the Library.

This accredited course will be followed by a Literacy course enabling parents to enhance their competence in the English language.

The purpose is to equip parents and carers to enhance their own life chances while they improve the effectiveness of their positive input into their child’s education.

L B Haringey

Eight year FEAST relationship lift’s L B Haringey achievement levels

 

FEAST in partnership with the Pupils Support Centre has been providing Supplementary school facilities for the PSC’s Commerce Road premises. March 2009 marked the 8th birthday of these well received services.

The contract has jus been extended by L B Haringey for the 2008 /2009 academic year.

Over its period of existence it had supported over 1200 young people to successfully remain in main stream education and get qualifications. Over 750 have moved on to further education and the rest have gone into trades or full time education.

This is a record which the organisation is proud of and intends to maintain and improve over the coming years.
