What We Are About
::::::::::::::::::
There are an increasing number of disaffected children and also an increasing number of dysfunctional families. In order to reduce the long term effects of this trend it is important that action is taken to enable the young persons to possibly achieve their potential. The DFES states that 200,000 children are seriously  under performing and probably excluded from mainstream education. This is the group that FEAST is set up to assist. The purpose is to turn potential long term liabilities into assets that will improve the quality of life of the individual, their family and the community as a whole.

What Our Clients Say
::::::::::::::::::
“Having been told continuously both at school and at home that I was no good and should expect nothing from myself, I came to believe it and live it. With FEAST’s continuous support, I have been successful at college and now I am fully employed. Thanks for enabling me to believe in myself.”
John; South London

“The organisation helped us to appreciate the consequences of some of our preconceptions. What is more they enabled us to face and so change these to the immense advantage of the school as a whole.”
“This is constructive partnership, not finger pointing.”
Mary; Head, West London Primary School

In 2003,  Ryan Bell , a young person was excluded from school and supported by the organization’s staff featured in a Channel 4 program that looked at what impact good education support projects can have on the development of young persons.
With the organization’s support within a year, Ryan Bell came from being branded an illiterate and potential offender to obtaining the highest marks in Biology and Latin.
Ryan’s story enabled us to raise a number of issues that is of concern to our society.
“Your choice gave the nation (viewers) a clear example of the consequences of opportunities or their lack and the resulting implications. Many long misconceptions were successfully challenged. Your ethos has value.”
Producer for Channel 4 Education Series

“The input of your researchers at all stages of this project demonstrates in-depth experience and proven expertise. I trust that recommendations will inform future policies.”

FEAST in Brent
::::::::::::::::::
FEAST has worked in the London Borough of Brent for 5 years in Newfield Primary School, Mitchell Brookes Primary School and Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School providing support for the most disaffected pupils in these schools.

FEAST was selected for the On-Track Pilot by the Home Office. The pilot was successful and the Organisation was contracted to provide services to the three schools named above.

These are evaluated yearly and FEAST is constantly  rated as a leader in its field with success rates of 8o% plus. (please refer On-Track 2003/4 Evaluation Report on Home Office website)

Furthermore,  as part of supporting these highly disaffected groups it engages with their parents / carers as part of its holistic support for the each child.

Over the 5 years over 1000 pupils (referred and self referred)  have been successfully supported improving considerably their uptake of  education and self development.

FEAST’s staff are a complementary part of each school; they function as an important part of the team. The organisation is rightly perceived as a complementary component of Brent’s LEA and acts as such. This is the basis of this project.
